HoloNet Links #203

Update 3.3a was added this past Tuesday to the game. With this latest patch Huttball and Arenas returned to the unranked queues. Aside from that, it has remained a relatively calm time in SWTOR. Many, in the Northern Hemisphere are enjoying the last month or so of summer. It will again be time to return to school for some and schedule changes for others. I can’t believe that in just 24 hours or less it will be August. Do you have any summer plans you want to do before the temps get cooler? On the bright side, it is less than three months till the new expansion, Knights of the Fallen Empire, goes live!

Now let’s get into this week’s links after the Jump…

  • Latest SWTOR story blog: Brothers

Earlier this week, Courtney Wood’s short story, Brother’s, was posted on the SWTOR website. This story deals with the two brothers featured on the Knights of the Fallen Empire expansion trailer. The setting is during the military campaign the brothers take this as a way to somehow impress their father, Emperor Valkorion. Of course we know, from the trailer the one brother, Arcann, gets seriously injured and required extensive cybernetic implants from his partial mask, to his left cybernetic arm.

We learn that this seemingly changes the impulsive and ambitious young man, into a completely possessed man. He is now willing to do whatever it takes to achieve victory, even if it means to having sacrifice everything. Both brothers are seemingly on a quest to impress or gain favor with their father. In the short story, we see that the Emperor does check in on his sons. However, he is checking in on them as knights of Zakuul, rather than as his own sons. Of note, we also learn the name of the commanding Sith during this part of the campaign on the planet Thexan. Her name is Darth Atroxa. Is this the red skinned Twi’lek? I am going to take a guess and say, yes it is. What did you think of this new story? Let us know in the comment section below.

EricMusco The Season 5 Nexu | 07.28.2015, 10:15 AM

Hey folks!
Some quick updates for you. We have not yet sent out the top 96 titles but it is our intention to get them out this week. We have received a few reports from players who have not received their Nexu, that were supposed to. We are investigating those reports now. Once we know that all Nexu have been fully granted, we will give you an update on our plans for the Gold tier PvPers along with granting the top 96 titles.
I will pass on more information as I have it!

I truly hope the situation with the tier one reward of the Nexu mount gets cleared up. It sounds like it will be soon, according to the dev post. There are some dedicated ranked pvp’ers that earned their reward. Please BioWare, make it right. Crossing fingers this will happen on next Tuesday’s patch.

EricMusco The Season 5 Nexu | 07.31.2015, 09:10 AM

Hey folks,
Good news! We have granted Nexu to all of the remaining Gold tier characters who had not yet received it. If you were missing the Nexu, we isolated the issue to characters who had transferred or changed their names during the course of the season.
I know there are questions about what will happen now, so here’s our current plans:

  • Mistakenly Granted Nexu – Anyone who was granted a Nexu, will be allowed to keep it. This was our error and we are not inclined to take it away from everyone.
  • Gold Tier Exclusive Reward – We know letting those extra players keep the Nexu, it takes away the exclusivity for our Gold tier PvPers. So, we want to fix that situation and the plan is with Game Update 3.3.1 all Gold tier PvPers will be receiving an exclusive item. No specifics are available at this time and we’ll announce it the day we release the patch.

Thank you all for your patience as we worked through getting this resolved. We know this was frustrating so we have changed internal processes to help prevent this type of situation in the future.

Looks like we have an update on the ranked Nexu mount issue, the people who received the ranked reward of the Nexu mount will not lose it. However, to give something to the Gold tier players who earned their ranking will be receiving an exclusive reward when Update 3.3.1 goes live. Although the mistake about rewards is frustrating, it is nice to see that BioWare is trying to make it right.

TaitWatson SWTOR and Windows 10 | 07.29.2015, 09:47 AM

Hi everyone,
If you have upgraded your PC to Windows 10 and encounter issues with The Old Republic that you did not encounter prior to installing Windows 10, please post a description of your issue, as well as your computer’s DXdiag and MSinfo reports. Please scrub any personally identifying information out of either report.
Before posting, please make sure you have also installed the latest Windows 10 driver for your graphics card. (Note: Some older graphics cards may not have a Windows 10 driver immediately available. You can check your card manufacturer’s website for more information.)

As many may know, Wednesday was when the latest Windows operating system became available for those who have reserved a copy. Windows 10 has been going out to many users. For the most part, friends I know have had good experiences with it as an operating system and also how it interacts with SWTOR. However, if you are having issues, be sure to contact Tait via this thread or through private message on the SWTOR forums.

  • SWTOR fan video

This week’s fan video comes from YouTube user Andrei Terbea. The video is a bit different than the normal videos featured here. It is showcasing an artist as they draw an animation style drawing. The drawing is Star Wars inspired, but with a twist. The artist is shown drawing a Mandalorian based bounty hunter. It is really well done and the level of detail is amazing. Check out this artistic flavored video a bounty hunter with a Disney twist. Check it out and let us know what you think in the comment section below.
